On the 6th February 1952 Queen Elizabeth II came to the throne, and celebrated her coronation on the 2nd June.  2012 marks her Diamond Jubilee of 60 years on the throne (only Queen Victoria before her has celebrated a reign this long) and over the weekend of 2-4th June there is an extra bank holiday and a number of national events and celebrations to mark this occassion.
